A Harrisburg man was arrested on Monday after investigators said he trafficked methamphetamine in Centre County.
Jaionne T. Miller, 25, was taken into custody following a joint investigation by the Centre County Drug Task Force and the at Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation.
A Spring Township detective learned in March that Miller had been traveling to Centre County “for the distribution of large amounts of methamphetamine,” and worked with a confidential informant to set up a controlled buy, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
In a text message exchange on March 28, Miller offered to sell meth to the informant for $3,000 a pound, and the informant agreed to purchase 2 pounds for $6,000, police wrote.
Investigators observed Miller leave his Harrisburg residence as the passenger in a vehicle driven by a woman and travel toward State College on the morning of April 1. At about 1 p.m. he arrived at the Walmart parking lot on North Atherton Street and parked next to the informant, according to the affidavit.
After exiting the vehicle, Miller retrieved a black bag from the trunk and got in the informant’s car, where he exchanged it for $6,000 in pre-recorded currency, police wrote.
The bag contained four large balls that the state police laboratory confirmed as methamphetamine weighing a total of 1.95 pounds, according to the affidavit.
Miller is charged with a felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication facility and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Spring Township police wrote in a Facebook post that additional charges are expected.
He was arraigned on Monday night by District Judge Casey McClain, who denied bail citing flight risk, drugs found in Miller’s car and his recently completed federal supervision on similar charges. Miller had pleaded guilty to federal drug and weapons charges in 2021 and was sentenced to prison for his role in the “Never Forget Loyalty” music group’s trafficking operation in the Harrisburg area.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 9
